Some findings may be present when deep vein thrombosis occurs. Besides, these findings are in approximately half of the patients who develop deep vein thrombosis. However, the signs and symptoms of this disease may also be associated with pulmonary embolism. If a person has signs and symptoms of both deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, he/she must seek medical advice immediately because these two diseases can cause death, if left untreated.
Embolism refers to a blood clot, which occurs in a certain part of the body, and which is transported to another part of the body through blood circulation. Pulmonary embolism is the sudden occlusion of a blood vessel that goes to the lung, namely, the pulmonary artery. Such blockage is generally caused by a blood clot moving from a vein in the leg to the lungs. Some people do not know that they suffer from deep vein thrombosis until the signs and symptoms of pulmonary embolism are found.
However, rapid heartbeat and rapid breathing can be among the symptoms of pulmonary embolism as well.
